What Information Do We Collect?

We collect personal information to provide our services to you. The information is also compiled in aggregate statistics to improve our services and no identifying personal information is recorded. By providing us with your information, you consent to its use.

We may also collect personal information from third-party sites, including social media platform functions such as Facebook “likes” or tickets you may have purchased.

The Iningat Ilagiit Website

The McMichael may use data-tracking tools such as “cookies” to collect non-identifying information regarding how our visitors use the site. A cookie is a small bit of data which is stored on your web browser to help assist and record your site usage. You cannot be identified utilizing the cookies, and the McMichael only uses the information to improve our site content and functionality.

Occasionally, the McMichael may host contests available to visitors of our website. All contests are governed by our privacy protection rules and are not open to individuals under the age of majority.

How We Protect Your Information

The McMichael protects your information through a range of security protocols and encryption software. We only maintain your information as long as is required by law and ensure thorough destruction afterwards.

With few exceptions, you may request what personal information we hold about you. To inquire, please use our Feedback Form.

Security

This site is a public place for the community to share their knowledge of the Cape Dorset and Norman E. Hallendy Archives.

We expect users of the site to interact with artwork, artists and other users on the site with respect and courtesy.

As part of our commitment to an environment of mutual respect, we require visitors to register for an account prior to posting comments or creating exhibitions. Mandatory registration allows us to prevent posting by “spam bots” and encourage positive discussion.

We take your privacy seriously. Any information you share with Iningat Ilagiit is used only to establish an account for the site.

How to use Iningat Ilagiit

Sharing your Exhibitions

Share your ideas through art and images. Registered Users* may create exhibitions on this site which allow sharing beyond the capabilities of a physical gallery!

Iningat Ilagiit allows you total control over how you share your exhibition publicly on Iningat Ilagiit. You may publish your exhibition directly to Iningat Ilagiit and/or share them using social media. If you share your exhibition on the site, your exhibition will appear under the Exhibitions ‘tab’ on our Search & Collect page.  To find it, search for your username and/or exhibition title on the Search and Collect page.

Share your exhibitions with friends and family using various social networks such as Facebook and Twitter. Look for the social network sharing buttons when you complete an exhibition!

Remember: You can always change your sharing settings. To do so, head to your My  Gallery page and select the “EDIT” button under the Exhibition you want to change. Then, make your way to Step 4 in the Exhibition Creator to update your sharing preferences.

*To create Exhibitions, save Collections of artworks and use the My Gallery page you require an account. Sign up to join in!

#Ilagiit Hashtag

#Ilagiit is the hashtag we have created to make it easy to find exhibitions and conversations about Iningat Ilagiit on social media. Remember to include #Ilagiit when sharing your content!

User-Generated Content Disclaimer

The McMichael Canadian Art Collection. (“the gallery,” “MCAC” “us,” “our” and “we”) owns and operates the Iningat Ilagiit website, related mobile apps (together, the “Site”).

By accessing or using the Site in any way or by creating an account to use the Services and becoming a Member, users (“you,” “your”) agree to abide by these Terms of Use. These Terms of Use and any other terms, policy or other document incorporated in these terms and conditions by reference are a legally binding agreement between us (the “Agreement”).

In addition, you represent that you are 13 years of age or older /are lawfully able to enter into contracts on behalf of an individual under the age of majority. If you are signing up for an account as the parent or legal guardian of a child under 13, please review this agreement thoroughly.

If you have entered into this agreement on behalf of an institution, you represent that you have the authority to bind that institution to these Terms of Use. You further represent that you have the right (including any consents required by applicable law) to provide all data that you provide to us. If you do not have the necessary authority, or if you do not agree with these Terms of Use, you may not use the Site or Services.

Iningat Ilagiit allows Members to create their own stories by assembling Content available on the Site, and to share those through the Site with other users. In this Agreement we refer to this Content provided by users as “User Content”.

We do not claim any ownership interest in your User Content, but we do need the right to use your User Content to the extent necessary to provide the Site and Services to users, including to display your User Content in the manner requested by you to operate the Site and Services.

In order for us to make the User Content you contribute available on the Site for these purposes, and to operate, market and promote the Service, we need the right to make use of such User Content in accordance with and subject to this Agreement. For example, if you create an exhibition, we require your license to display that User Content on the Services, and we need the right to sublicense that User Content to our other users so that they can view that User Content.

If you contribute User Content to the Site, it is your responsibility to check the Site from time to time to review how we permit User Content to be used. You may at any time, terminate your use of the Site and this Agreement by deleting your account. Upon any termination, whether by you or by us, your license of your User Content to us and our sublicenses to others shall also terminate, provided that after such termination that license and those sublicenses will continue with respect to any Permitted Use of your User Content that commenced prior to the effective time of the termination, until that Permitted Use ceases.

Finally, if your use of the Site or this Agreement terminates for any reason, or Content is removed from the Site, your license hereunder to use the Content or the removed Content, as the case may be, terminates immediately. The McMichael Canadian Art Collection and its representatives reserve the right to remove Content from the Site at any time, without notice, for any reason, or for no reason, in its sole discretion.
